Any tips on getting rid of marine velvet?
My plan is quarantine all fish for 4 weeks ( yellow tang, yellow watchmen, blenny, sunburst fathead and a mollie). However before I quarantine do a fresh water dip with some methylene blue. Does anyone know where you can get this locally?
Treat with coppersafe or some kind of copper treatment. Any recommendations on brands? Any locally?
Of course perform w/c every week. Question normal 10% w/c or should be more.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks

I would quarantine for at least 6 weeks to be safe. When I ran into velvet I put all fish into copper for 8 weeks.
I believe you can get methylene blue at Fish4U but you may want to call first. As far as copper I've only used coppersafe before so I can't recommend any other brands based on experience.
You may try dosing Amquel to take care of ammonia and nitrite and do 10-15% water changes weekly to reduce nitrates.

^ What Ann said. I have some if you want it, but I'm way north. I had a hard time finding it locally.

Thanks. That was fast too. 8 weeks ...bummer looks like I will have to use a bigger quarantine tank.

Do I need the methylene blue or could I just do a freshwater dip? Does the methylene help the fish or help kill the velvet?

The methylene blue helps the fish use oxygen more efficiently. Since velvet attacks the gills this can be very helpful in prolonging the life of the fish long enough for other treatments to be effective.

Good teacher.
How large is your hospital tank? I have a 20 long here you could take if you needed it as well as the methylene blue.

Would amquel and coppersafe be ok together? Or will they have the same bad reaction that amquel and cupramine have?
