I picked up some zoa's and can't figure out what kind they are (name of zoa) I don't know that it really matters, but there have been some unrest in the home with the kids. Please help put this to rest and allow me my sanity back.

Let the kids name them. Smile

Common names are given by anyone who first finds the polyp. Scientifically they are all still the same, just like Homo sapiens come in many different colors of skin, hair and eye color. All the different colors came in from the wild coral collectors.

A few of the colors changed after they grew for a few months in captivity. This is what happened with a Palythoa Grandis we call Blundell Buttons. Have you heard of them?

Locally, they take their common name after our own Adam Blundell, the person that may have been the first to bring them out of Florida waters. Here they are in the wild.

Aloha Hug
