You can usually buy them in a pair with a goby. Are you planning on having zoanthids or anything on the sand? If so...prepare for it to be buried. I sold my pair because I love zoanthids. ------------- Susan Matney Farmington, UT |

I once read somewhere (don't know where) that if you don't buy them as a pair, especially with a large tank, they either dont find each other or don't make friends. ------------- RT |

Do pistol shrimp live in rocks/corals? We just got a maze coral, and
noticed a clicking whenever the hermits got near it. We've only caught
glimpses of antennae. So is there a way to tell if this is a pistol
shrimp or a mantis if we can't see it? A goby would be really cool to pair it with, but maybe a coral would work? ------------- Steve & Stephanie Wells Riverton, UT |

| Swells they are pretty easy to ID by their claws if you can get a pick of the claws at night or something, try luring it out with a piece of shrimp or something. |

I have a pistol shrimp to sale or trade. His partner died about 3 mos ago, and he's been hanging out in the sump. I thought he had died also, but he's made a burrow and settled in. 'Seems pretty hardy. Let me know if you're interested ------------- Howcome everything in my tank looks brown? |

Your pistol shrimp will DEEFINITELY be happier with a room mate. Mine lives with a yellow watchman gobie, they are the most interesting things to watch in the tank. These shrimp have very short sight so they do better with a gobie that can look out for them and signal them when there is danger, plus it is amazing to watch. |

Im glad that some of you have had some luck w/ your pairs but to be honest it makes me mad!..., I got a tiger shrimp and a yellow watchman like 3 mo.'s ago and right when they were released in the tank they paired up then made a tunnel..., the first 3 days or so I saw the goby pokeing his head out of the whole then he stopped..., I havent seen the goby in like 3 months (Im not sure if hes alive but I havent seen any signs of death or life..., and I read about a guy who didnt see his for like 6 months in a 6 gal nano and then all of a sudden came out) I have seen and heard the pistol a couple times but besides that all he has done is make my rocks sink from all the digging he has done I want to take him/or them out but I would have to take my whole tank down..., does anyone know if it just depends on the goby and pistol or if its possible they just dont like my tank? |
