hi everyone i have a 28 gallon jbj hqi nano and i have been having no luck with anemones i bought one and it didnt make it then i recieved one from a member on this site and i am afraid it isn't going to make it i went and had my water tested over at the aquarium and they said my water looked good all the levels were good but my nitrites were a little above but not high enough to make a difference to the tank. the anemone has been in one spot for awhile but lately his tentacles have shrunken and started loosing color and i dont know what to do he is about the size of a 50 cent peice when full but is now about the size of a quarter he has plenty of water flow. any sugestions on what is happening would be great. thanks

I am no expert but this is what I have learned over the past few weeks while trying to learn how to care for my anemone and watching mine.

Light

Flow

Food

Anemones need a good light source and weekly feedings. They will move to wherever they feel most comfortable. Give them a tall rock to walk up, this will allow them to choose to move closer to the light and up into a high flow area if they would rather.

Take a look at its mouth. If its mouth stays wide open then its possible it is not happy with the water chemistry and is gasping.

Make sure its foot isn't torn. Never try to physically move your anemone. Simply aim a powerhead at it and it will start to release itself and move. Once your anemone is most of the way released then you can gently try to lift it.

If you could send a photo it would allow us to see its overall color and its placement.

Again, I am not an expert by any means. Take this for what its worth (just my 2 cents).

Have you tried feeding it? What type of lighting do you have? Is there enough water flow?
