i just set up a new 29 gallon Biocube that i got for Christmas. A couple days after Christmas, I purchased a used Biocube up near Layton and I took out the corals and live rock. The used tank also came with a clown and dotty back and I just recently purchased a diamond watchman goby. Also, it will be great if anybody could help identify what the coral are. | Looks Great! The piece in the center looks like a hammer, there is also a leather , sinularia I believe. The little ones that look like flowers are zoanthids. Some green fuzzy mushrooms to the right ( be prepare, those get huge and are capable of eating fish) also the one above them are green star polyps, and button polyps . |

i appreciate your help in identifying the corals. This tank is in the corner of my kitchen and I find myself pulling up a chair and staring at it during breakfast and other times during the day. I've probably been to every store that has corals in Salt Lake and Utah County just to get ideas on what might look good in the tank. The tanks seems to be doing great right now. I took measurements of the water quality last night and nitrates and ammonia are 0, KH is at 3.5/9.8, Cal is at 580, and Mag is 1400. Didn't take the pH because I can't seem to guess which color the water is based upon the chart. I've been dosing the tank with Stability, at first it was every other day, now I add it at water changes. I do about a 5 gallon water change once a week. I also add Fuel and Iodide once a week. Transferring an existing tank to my tank has been so much quicker in terms of cycling. By the way, the tank did cycle but it wasn't bad. Nothing died because of it. Last time I set up a reef tank, I let the tank cycle for 6 months. Plus I really didn't get many coral in it. With KSL classified, it is much cheaper and easier to purchase corals from other people than it was 10 - 15 years ago. I change up what I feed the tank. I'm using cyclopeeze, Ocean Nutrition Formula One frozen and flake, New Life Spektrum sinking pellets, and Reef Roids. The only thing that the fish will not touch is some kind of green flake that I got from BenepetsRx. I'm sure its spirulina/vegi flake. I'll feed the fish twice a day. And I've been using coral specific food maybe once every three days. The former owner of the corals said he never gave the corals any special food--so I'm not too worried about them. Also, purchased some liquid coral food from Benepets and not sure if I'll purchase anymore. I've only used half a bottle and I think it has gone bad. It has remained in the refrigerator since I purchased it. Has anybody tried their stuff and what do you think about it?

| I was wondering if those were mushrooms. They have grown larger from the time I got them. Any ideas on how to remove some of them. They are on a fairly large piece (for a 29g tank) of live rock. |

I love looking at my tank. My wife and I will sit and stare and point things out to each other. I wouldn't add iodine without testing first. I like the red sea test kits. Calcium is a little high, at least for my tank. I keep mine around 420. The best coral food I have found is from Brine Shrimp direct in Ogden golden pearls gp 5 - 50 micron. It is allot cheaper and works great. All my corals have amazing polyp extension. You can also get frozen food, pellets, and flakes from them as well. A good thing to add is phytoplankton. I really like the tahitian blend algae paste from brine shrimp direct. It feeds the bugs in the tank. I dose every other day with the algae paste and golden pearl coral food.
