I have a really cool bicolor blenny that was my first fish. He has been
in my tank for about a month and a half, with a Yellow Clown Goby I
have had for a month. I alternate feeding day by day (Example-Monday once a day. Tuesday twice a day, wed. once a day, etc) Not sure why but I think mainly it seems easy to over feed when not much food is needed. I feed Frozen brine shrimp, cyclo-peeze, Froze Foemula 2 with garlic, and some flake food in the morning on twice a day feedings. Fish seem to come out and eat some and go on there way, my Peppermint shrimp comes out and jumps around trying to get the remaining leftovers. Any way the last couple weeks I noticed two things, I see some white splotchy(SP?) coloration come and go on him. ( Not Ich, the skin will actually whiten in spots) Then go away for days and come back for a half a day or a full day, then go away again. I know the blenny has some sputs down his side that look whitish, but this can be anywhere on his body. The second thing he is doing lately is swimming around and looks like he is doing back flips, and tossing around like a rodeo bull, looks like he is having fun but not sure if this a sign of something. He come out to eat and seems like most of the time he is fine. Am I over reacting or is my feeding practices off, or something else. Corals, shrimp, cleanup crew, and yellow Goby all seem to be fine also. Thanks for looking, Rob |

Every bi-color i've had has had the white "spots" at times that aren't
ich. i think it is a sign of stress because mine gets them when a
new fish arrives but then go away once everyone is happy again.
they are a camo-type defense to hide himself among the rocks. i
don't think its anything to be worried about, just keep him fat and
happy. do you have lots of little nooks and crannies for him to
slip his body into to hide? that is what mine likes to do, just
poke his head out. as far as your feeding, i think you might be overfeeding a little bit. as long as your levels are fine though i wouldn't worry about it. i feed every other day just a little in the morning and night, rotating through a bunch of stuff just like you are doing. -dwn |

Thanks, Yep he has about 3-4 spots he likes to "Garage" himself into
and one he normally goes to for bed time. I have been trying to cut
doen on the food, but it is really hard to get just enough shaved off
from the cube. Should I cut doen to feeding every other day? My
Nitrates were a tad high 30ppm when I tested before my water change. He has been sitting on my powerheads alot lately, but always pops back into his holes. I had family staying with us and lots of people poking around the tank, maybe that stressed him out. He is becoming a really cool fish, but man does he have some big Turds...  Thanks Again, Rob |
