So I thought I'd share my progress on my newest tank, which will be specifically for zoanthids. I'm debating about having a small goby or dragonet in the tank, but as for corals it will be strictly zoas and palys.
The tank is a standard 29 gallon aquarium, not drilled. I plan on just adding ATO directly into the tank (no sump) as well as add a power filter for extra filtration. Lighting is provided by a single AI Sol White. Flow is provided by a 1300gph powerhead, though I'm hoping to eventually upgrade to an MP10.
Here's the plan for coral stocking: - Awesome Blues (Pete Moss' morph)
- Blonde Blue Eyed B****es
- Blue Hornets
- Candy Apple Reds
- Captain Americas
- Darth Mauls
- Emeralds on Fire
- Fire and Ice
- Fruit Loops
- Incredible Hulks
- Infernos
- Kedds Reds
- KH Sunbursts
- LA Lakers
- Magicians
- Mary Janes
- My Clementines
- Pink Zippers
- Purple Hornets
- Rainbow Raptors
- Rastas
- Red Hornets
- Spidermans
- Sunny Delights
- Tubbs Blues
- Tyree Space Monsters
- Utter Chaos
- Valentines Day Massacres
If you have any other suggestions of awesome zoas and palys please feel free to let me know and I'll add them to the list!

Happy to say I may have contributed some to that stock list and hopefully can find a few that you don't have and want to add to it more.
If you're going sumpless on this I would highly recommend a small HOB skimmer as you will want to reduce proteins created from Zoa waste. Just a thought but looking forward to the progress.
I think you should add: Everlasting Gobstoppers Yellow Jackets Zoa Psychodelic Zoa Mind Freak Paly Wicked Witch Paly

You saw these in my tank while doing some lazer work the other night, just might not have realized it while you were wearing those really stylish sunglasses of yours. ;) lol

Following with interest. When my home tank is up and running I intend to do a 20 gallon zoanthid garden at my office.

Got the tank filled yesterday and got all the rock and sand in place. I may add a little more sand but for now the tank is starting it's cycle and will be left alone.
I'm also looking to add a simple HOB skimmer rather than a power filter.

Are you worried about the light from your fuge bleeding over in the main tank and causing algae problems?

Not really. I'll have a pretty strong clean up crew and the rocks on that side are low and away from the fuge. Plus there's tons of flow on that side.

So far I've moved only a couple frags over to this tank and they all seem to be doing really well. I'm thinking about moving my harlequin shrimp from my rsm into this tank since I never see him in my other tank except when he's hunting more starfish (he's a pig!). Thoughts?
Anyways so far I have these frags in the tank... - Fire and Ice
- Awesome Blues
- Incredible Hulks
- Magicians
- Red Hornets
- Blue Hornets
Hoping to move more frags over soon when everything is grown out enough in my rsm to frag. Still need a few things from my above list and would love more suggestions, so if you have any cool zoas you think I should add to this tank PM me.

Looks a little wet. Might want to raise the cup just a little if you can. Didn't you just set this tank up last week and you're already talking about adding a fish or two? Are you worried about crashing the tank by loading it up quick or are you trying to load it and establish the bio filtration quickly for some reason?

I want to add an easy fish to make sure the tank is properly cycled. I'm planning on a bangaii cardinal or two. I'm also planning on moving a couple more frags over today.
As far as the skimming I also think it's a bit wet and am planning on cutting back a little to go for a more dry skimmate.

I spent like $10 for a 2x4 and hardware. I already had black paint, so I didn't have to pay for that. I used 3" wood screws to secure the wood together and put a metal corner brace on the under side of the mount to reinforce the join between the vertical and the horizontal boards.

Skimmers working well, pulling crap from the tank most of which is probably from the once live, dead rock that I used.

Lost a few frags over the last week (literally lost then since they weren't glued down and I didn't notice they were gone since I've been very busy), including spidermans, blue hornets, darth mauls, emeralds on fire, pink zippers, and magicians. Planning to be replacing these within the next month while I work on getting the tank fully stocked and running properly. Still in desperate need of a clean up crew as well now that cyano is taking over the tank even though the nutrients are dropping quickly.
I also got an ATO built and installed the other day. A huge thank you to Fatman for all of his help with this!!
Will be uploading pictures tonight.

Sorry I never got pictures up. I sort of neglected the tank for awhile and focused on my other tank and the fish in quarantine. Anyways I got it back up to presentable standards and moved frags back over since I removed a ton of them a few weeks ago. Almost all of my zoas are in this tank now because my emperor angelfish will be going into my rsm soon and I'm expecting him to eat the remaining zoas.

You've changed something with the way you are taking pictures (or maybe the water just was cloudy) but they aren't quite as bright as what you normally show. lol Those peach nebulas are looking good ;)

The water was a little cloudy since I had just stirred the sand and then thought of taking pictures (not so brilliant on my part), and I was using my phone camera so they weren't as good as usual.
I'll work on getting some better pictures uploaded sometime in the next week.

So much for pictures.... I had a huge algae bloom and the water is completely green. Anyone got any ideas besides a UV sterilizer or a 100% water change? I've upgraded my protein skimmer to the new CADlights PLS-50 pipeless nano skimmer and it seems to be pulling a lot more out than my seaclone ever did, but the water is still very murky.

Are you running activated carbon? If not I'd probably run that and also some filter floss to help clear the rest of it up. I'm not sure if you'd want to turn your lights off for a couple of days. I've done that in the past and I think it helped some..

I don't like turning lights off because it can hurt the corals and at the very least it weakens them because it deprives them of energy. Anyways, I am not running any filtration except a skimmer and a HOB refugium. I may eventually add a HOB filter with AC and filter floss, but for now I'm just going to wait it out.
So far it's starting to clear up with the addition of a much better skimmer and removing some of my macro. The zoas are all going crazy and looking great so I think the algae bloom is providing them with a good source of food, and if that's the case I don't mind waiting for it to slowly go away on it's own (not that I want it to stick around forever).
When it's cleared up I'll post some pics.

Ann, you can take a container and drop a pump in the bottom, put some of the poly pillow fill above the pump then pipe the discharge of the container. Punch a bunch of holes above the poly fill and drop it inside the tank and let it run. That should clear up the cloudiness overnight.
