Soooo, I used the Thrive PO4 remover as per the instructions on the bag (because the dude at the fish store said "dose it every day for a week" and forgot to mention I should only use 1-2 drops instead of 10ml!) on my 220g reef and my fish are dying due to oxygen depletion (I assume)!!  I have already lost a beautiful 9 inch sailfin and a yellow tang and my blue hippo, vlamingi and others are not looking so hot Cry

HELP!! I did an emergency 20% water change about 4 hours ago, removed my carbon filtration in case it was saturated, I have an extra aerator on a power head, my skimmer going and removed my sponge filtration to allow more mixing/oxygenation of the water....anything else I can do???

I have a 10 inch vlamingii (and many others) that I REALLY REALLY don't want to lose!

ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Thanks in advance, Kolleen

Make sure you are stiring the top of the water with a powerhead or two.
Personally i would have changed more than 20%, somewhere along the lines of 50%. IMO.

are you sure it's oxygen depletion? I've heard too much phosphate remove can remove phosphates too quickly and cause shock.. Not sure though.

I did the same thing. Agreed. Could be a combo of the 2. I would bump up the water change to 50% and after a week do another 20-30%. Just my opinion.

I am not sure of anything except my fish are dying LOL but they appear to be hypoxic. As soon as I realized it I aimed all my powerheads up to stir the surface. I only had 40g worth of water last night, so I did the 20%. Would you wait a week or do another 20% sooner?

I lost 3 fish total (that I know of so far) and they were looking a little more active and normal when I left this morning so I am hoping that is the worse of it.

Thanks guys!

There is water available from the membership if you need it.  I have about 20 gallons right now if you need it.

I'm a bit far being in riverton but, I've got 50 available and could have 65 by the evening and don't mind making more. I generally have 65g on hand so just ask. -text is best 801.755.1899
