Thinking of getting a few lyretail anthias. I was originally going to get 3 females, and 1 male. But doing research and it said to at least get 8 females, and 1 male... Just wondering thoughts on this.. Also on a side note, I currently have a lawnmower blenny. And am looking to get 1 or 2 midas blenny's and wondering if all three would be okay in a 180? I know there might be some aggression..

For about the last year or so, I have fallen in love with anthias. I have 3 bartlet's and 3 carberryi's in my 210 right now. I started with 4 of the carberryi and they picked off the smallest female after about 3 weeks. I have read that they usually pick off the weakest fish until there are 3 left, but Im not sure if it is the same with lyretails. They also may be fine in your 180. Hopefully someone with some first hand experience can chime in. Good luck! Post pics when you get them too

I might get a bartlett anthias as well.. Would 1 work, or would they be best in pairs?? Also, with the anthias, do i need to get 8 female and 1 male, or just 9. Wont they change like clowns??

You certainly do not need nine Anthias! A trio works well. We have a trio of Bartlett's. One male and two female. I have tried three times with Maldive's Lyretail Anthias. Of 10 fish, nine have been DOA. We have had a single Lyretail for almost five months. He hangs with the Bartletts.

Yeah, i love the lyretail. Amazing looking. I might try them soon as i know everything is okay.. Also can you mix any anthias with another anthias..

My two species play nice. They will divide up into two groups sometimes, and sometimes all six swim together

I have three female and one male Maldive's Lyretail Anthias, and I have two female Bartlett they all hang out together. Just don't have two males with less than 8 females. I bought all females the dom female will turn male. Sometimes they seperate but for the most part they all hang out and get chased around by the super male! One of my favorite fish.
