Those of you with encrusting superman monti's.....I'd be interested in placement suggestions....I keep finding mixed reviews on whether to blast them with light for great color or keep them down low/shaded....pics too if you have them

I'll work on a picture but I keep mine mid way directly under a 400W MH.

Mine is at the top, but it is getting indirect lighting from my 250w 10k light. What I have found is that I get really good polyp extension, but not much of the blue structure. Also it goes get a bit of circulation.

Mine is almost at the bottom of 20" deep tank, under T5's that are about 10"-11" above waterline. It is extremely dark blue and red. I'm sure I'd get brighter colors, up higher.

About middle of the tank with high flow brought out the best colors for me.

Mine was near the top of a BioCube with PC and LED lighting, and the colors were a bit faded (I actually think it was too much light), in fact it almost looked bleached but then came back (so it probably was too much light but adapted). In my new tank with a loaner light= 192 W T5, the tank is 24 inch depth and its about 6 inches off the bottom and the Red is getting a bit brighter, but somehow its still not popping... once I get my new lights built (LED) I will likely have to play. To be honest I have yet to figure out if this is supposed to be a true show piece or just an interesting but not stunning coral... So I do NOT have this figured out. Thats for sure. Its getting flow, but not blasted.
------------- Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler -A.E. 57 Gallon RImless build in progress check the thread before if becomes boring and just full of nice pictures of colorful coral!

Mine is at the highest point of my tank, right in the middle, and doing really well.
