So I felt that I needed to share this with others incase they have an algae issue they need resolved.

I take care of my parents 225 tank and over the past 7 months I've not been doing a very good job. The algae growth was ridiculous and taking over everything. I tried getting a lawnmower blenny, I stopped feeding my tangs so they would eat it, increased the amount of macro in my sump but nothing seemed to work. I checked my Po4 and No3 and they were all negligible. Some feedback I got was to increase my flow and after looking at were my biggest blooms were, I found them to be in the slowest parts of the tank. And even more so I found that as the algae got more out of control, the more it would plug up my powerheads and the worse it would get. A vicious cycle to say the least.

I ordred some new powerheads the other day (2 Korilia Mangum 7's) but I had a feeling this wasn't going to cut it. While I was waiting for them to get here I decided to just man up, grab a tooth brush, and start scrubbing away. I was surprised how quickly i could turn a once algae jungle into a clean beautiful tank again. With my new pumps and a clean tank my optimism is at an all time high with this stupid algae problem.

Now I don't know for sure if the algae will come back or not but the point of my story is this, you can try every non-invasive method out there but nothing is faster and more effective then a little bit of elbow grease.

I had to do the same thing once. It seemed once I got rid of the algae then my clean up crew could actually keep up. Good luck Micah.
