From my experience, I would wait on the clowns.  They can be extremely territorial (at least mine were) and can significantly affect what types of fish you will be able to add afterwards.  I had wanted to get a Royal Gramma for my tank, but wasn't able to, because the Royal Gramma was too peaceful and my Clowns nearly killed the poor guy before I was able to get him back to the store.

I have never regretted adding my Green Chromis Damsels.  They are peaceful towards other fish, inexpensive, and they are fun to watch when you have several of them, because they definitely school together.  They don't get too big, so they would fit in your nano quite well, and they are very active as they swim around in a school.  I would get at least 4 : )

if you get clowns add them LAST! If you put them in first all your other pretty fish will be terrorized. I have a 29 gal. I only have 4 in there. 1 perc , 1 royal gramma,1 purple firefish and 1 tailspot blenny

Adding new fish and having them accepted is not so difficult as was once thought.
Some old timers used to say, don't mix same body shape fish. Other's said to use damsels to "cycle" your tank. This created some very territorial fish in the tank so it was hard to add more fish.
Well, ALL OF THAT IS WRONG. We now know better. We know how to avoid the traditional "Cycle" and we know how to add fish so the others accept and get along with the new guys. See the Reefkeeping Tip "Secrets of adding new fish..." linked below. Smile

Well I wish that I had read your tips about fish aggression before. I lost two clowns to my larger clowns even while trying to fight off the aggressors. I would have tried feeding more. I guess clowns are just REALLY hungry little buggers.
