Has anyone had this problem before. I think I remember years ago having the same problem, but I don't remember if I found a culprit. Two days ago I noticed a single zoa without pedals (but still alive) today I found another single zoa next to the other one with most of its pedals missing and they are both still alive. There are about 10 polyps in this colony. I imagine another one will be messed up tomorrow. Do you suppose a bristle worm that is starving would eat them? There are no fish in this aquarium so I don't feed the tank anything.
What do you guys think?

I'd look ever so closely at that colony. Magnifying glass, digital photos, take it out of the tank, etc. Look for a nudibranch or other unknown critter.

I did think about a nudibranch. I don't know how long their gestation period is but I haven't added anything to this tank for at least 5 monthes now. I'm not ruling it out. I do have some hydroids living somewhat near the colony. Thats all I have. I wish I had some type of aquarium telescope.

The zoas look otherwise healthy. They are still opening and don't seem irritated by what is going on. They still are open so that I can see their center. Its just like they the pedals fell off.

dont you mean an aquarium microscope? anyways do you have a pic of the colony that is being eaten? you might check during the nights and check them to see any predators
