So I was thinking about strapping a new "masonry sponge" to my return pump (submerged in my sump) to help dampen the vibration sounds. Good idea or bad idea? ------------- 21G Reefer Nano |

Unless you are certain it wasn't treated with anything I wouldn't. Put a ziploc bag full of sand under your return pump. That will eat up the vibs. Since it's only sand from your tank, if it rips, it won't put anything in your tank that wasn't already there. |

A sponge can get dirty and may need to be cleaned, which is a hassle. I have used different things over the years; filter sponge, sand, a plastic cage, vinyl hose, etc. How is this submersible pump set up? Is it already sitting on something? Is it hanging by the return plumbing? The pump (Mag 12) is sitting in the return section on bottom of my new acrylic sump. It's going to be connected with PVC pipe. I think I've decided to just go with a baggie of sand. Hopefully that will work. ------------- 21G Reefer Nano |
