Just got this frag of duncan coral (1 head) on saturday....I removed it from the tile and while doing so it retracted completely....maybe I hurt it?  (noob at this stuff) Anyways, I glued it to a rock and it hasn't opening even the slightest.....look the at the picture, is it a gone?  I don't have much experience with what a dead coral even looks like.....advice from here if it is still alive?  Thanks....

On a duncan coral you can usually see a mouth even when closed up, if it is bare skeleton, then it is gone.

When I get frags I leave them on the frag plug for a couple of days so I don't add stress!

Don't take the Duncan out just yet.  When I bought mine it took several days to come out.  Who knows you might just get lucky

Really?  So how long should I wait?  Won't a decaying coral harm my water?

Its only a single head of Duncan, there really isn;t that much there to foul up your water.

I'd leave it in, and try taking a look at it in the middle of the night when the lights are off.

It could just be getting acclimated to your lighting. See if you see any signs of life in the dark...

i havent had very good luck with duncans either, the 5 head frag i got a couple months ago is slowly dying, showing more and more bare skeleton from the ground up, almost like STN on sps.  I only have 2 living heads left. everything else is thriving.
