I have a 29 gallon Biocube, with a 150W MH Sunpod (Phoneix 14K bulb). I've recently added a ORA green birdnest and a pink/purple polyp birdnest, to the tank about 2 weeks ago or so. They both have great polyp extension, but the bodies seems (possibly the polyps too) seem a bit faded from when they were first added. The Sunpod sits about 6-8 inches above the water line and the corals are about 3-4 inches below the waterline, with the green being directly under the bulb, and the purple off to the side a bit. I'm curious if these guys prefer a little less light, little less flow, etc. Or is this normal coloration. I'm at work so I can't give you all the specifics on the parameters, but I have good regimine that keeps the Ca around 400, Alk around 10, SG 1.025, temp tops out around 80 when the halides are on, but can get the specific numbers if needed.
Any input would be appreciated. All other SPS I have in the tank (ORA Borealis, ORA pearlberry, sunset monti, Tyree undata, caps, all have great (original coloration). ------------- "A fish tank is not a pet. It's a TV that you gotta feed." - John Caparulo |

I have mine under 400 watt MH bulbs about 3 inches from the top of the water. They can do well in lower light but 150 watt is not what I would say is high light. Are you sure that the ends are not white from growth? ------------- I have flying monkeys and I'm not afraid to use them. 180 gallon money pit that I love..... |

I do have white tips from growth, but the overall body color just isnt as dark as when I put them in the tank. Not bleaching or RTN, just lighter. ------------- "A fish tank is not a pet. It's a TV that you gotta feed." - John Caparulo |

That could just be the difference in food and light in your tank compared to where it was before. It could also still be recovering from the move. I have killed my fair share though, so I would keep an eye on it for sure, but leave it and see what it does over the next few weeks. Also be sure there is nothing close that is aggravating it. ------------- Andreason's |

Also, it could be the change in Kelvin rating, They were probably under 20k bulbs, with more lumens. I know that some corals I have bought have taken a few months to readjust to my system. ------------- http://www.highendcorals.com/">
