I have a rock with 3 to 5 rodactis mushrooms on it. I bought it quite a while before my tank was ready: a guy was moving and Brian in Twin offered to care for it. When I picked it up it has been near an anemone and one of the heads was white and two looked OK, but small. It is now in my tank and the three I can now find are all white. I know they are alive because I can observe them grow and shrink with the lights. I have them in a quiet corner of the tank and out of the dirct light of my MH.

Do I wait them out or is there something else I can try???

Mine love to be in direct light but it sounds like they are really stressed so I wold slowly bring them into light and acclimate  them to your lights

I love Rhodactis! I also kept them in direct light - although at the bottom of the tank. They also love to be fed and have some of the best feeding behavior you will see. The have reportedly caught and consumed fish - although at this I am skeptical.

Good luck! Great purchase.

Feed them what and the method? I need to do SOMETHING to stimulate them and quickly!

Frozen brine, small pieces of squid, small pieces of silverside.

Just put the food onto them - they should take it. They will close up and consume it. You may need to keep the fish and shrimp away for minute untilt the close up on it.

I tried holding some raw shrimp in front of them. I get a little bit of feeding response. It is either not happening or it is taking FOREVER for them to curl up. The mouths seem to extend though. On the biggest one this morning, there seemed to be a little curling after several minutes, but soooooo slow. Plus there are 3 bristle worms that live nearby that were trying to steal the food.
