I thought I would post here first, then go talk to Eric at M.A. I recently bought a 180 gallon acrylic tank; and as would be expected, there are several minor to moderate scratches. Being the anal OCD type, I would like to sand/buff as many of these scratches out as possible before anything goes in the tank. I have read a lot of people use sand paper to wet sand the deepest scratches (800 progressing to 2000 grit) then they use a polisher/wet abrasive to buff out the haze caused by the  sand paper. My Questions:
  1. Is this the recommended procedure by you experts?
  2. Is there any thing I need to be careful of using this method (besides over sanding)?
  3. Is there an easier way of restoring an acrylic tank?
  4. What products do you guys use as the liquid abrasive? I have read a lot use Novus.
  5. Are there liquid abrasives that are particularly dangerous or particularly safe for a future reef tank? or is rinsing out the tank sufficient?
  6. What methods have you guys used to keep your acrylic tanks clean AND scratch free.
Thanks for your help...I know Acrylic tanks get a bad rap for their propensity to scratch, but I like all of the other benefits associated with acrylic, i.e. clarity, weight,  design, ease of drilling, strength/shatter resistance, insulation properties...so with your help I think I can make this tank look as good as new and keep it that way.

Thanks in advance
