So has anyone ever heard of a Nassarius snail living without it's shell? Or discarding it's shell.. just because?? I ask because powder seems to have disowned his shell. We thought the culprit was one of our hermit crabs - who was conveniently now "wearing" Powder's home.. so we murdered him : ) But now Powder won't go back into his shell. (I think it's because it has hermit cooties) He's chillin on the side of the aquarium at the moment, and apparently has no qualm about wandering around on the substrate naked. I haven't seen him go underground as they normally do yet, I'd imagine it would be uncomfortable.. sand scraping against your previously shielded vulnerables. Should I expect him to live? Get back in his shell? Or should I assume the worst and remove him from the tank to avoid any problems finding his corpse later? (I was thinking of putting a small portion of scallop in his shell to entice him back home. I dunno.. ) ------------- Clearfield, UT. |
