I found an ad online that says Berghia Nudibranch seat aptasia.
Does anyone know if this is true?
my peppermint shrimp hasn't touched the one I currently have and I know it won't stay just one for long.
i have poisened it with a saringe directly and thought it was gone but it just moved.

Search the board. There have been several threads in the past. This animal only eats apstasia. Peppermint shrimp, if they do eat the aiptasia, will only eat the small ones. Also like Dion said, once the nudibranch eats all the aiptasia it can find it will starve to death. Nudibranchs are very specialized eaters.

For a handful of aptaisia I would continue injections. What are you using? I would (and do) use kalk paste. So here is the good and you have heard the bad from others. Berghia are easily bred (so you can make up for some of the expense of getting them). If I were going to order I would get at least 6 if not 8-10. I would breed them in a small tank and feed them from the aptaisia from the main tank. Then I would sell them to every LFS in the area (some of the frag tanks around here are totally infested) But here is the catch (and one reason why I have never done this), You need to feed these guys. I do not want to be an aptaisia breeder. ------------- Jeff Rasmussen |

They breed _really_ easy. I had a pair (that I killed off due to an ammonia spike - but that is a different story) that were laying eggs the day after I got them.
I believe Jake used to breed them in mason jars...

I don't have any visible aiptasia in my tank. I guess the peppermint shrimp are taking care of them. But I am getting some in my refugium. I just ordered some berghia to try in the refugium. How do you raise them? If it's easy I might give it a try. ------------- W. I think Inland Aquatics always has them for sale. But as has been said, they only eat aptasia so you can usually find somethine else (like peppermints).
