ok i know i said i wouldn't do it, but i am really thinking about it. I
have upgradded my lighting: 4*60" VHO @ 5.12 W/g. So i have been thinking about maybe trying another BTA or LTA for my Premnas biaculeatus oh how she does love an anemone. But i would like to find one that has maybe split in someone elses tank under VHO lights so that it may have a better shot at making it. just a thought, not right away but within the next month or so. oh and it kinda needs to be a good size so she, Premnas biaculeatus , doesn't smother it with love. go ahead, tell me i'm nuts, you won't hurt my feelings too badly. ------------- 125g whannabe reef 30g FW w/puffers |

Premnas biaculeatus, Premnas biaculeatus, Premnas biaculeatus. You think you're so smart :) Well I'm on to you, and I know what you are talking about. I may have an Entacmaea quadricolor in a monh or so to let go. Mine has been growing under pc lights os I don't know if it will be good enough for your Premnas biaculeatus. And how do you know she has under gone the great change, she still may be a he!

. I would stick with an Entacmaea quadricolor since that is the only anemone they naturally reside in. As for getting one from someone who had it split, I don't know if I would go through the trouble. They are so common, I think you can find one anywhere anytime. Posted By: djangoboots

Thankyou Adam, I do like the Entacmaea quadricolor, and so
does she, P. biaculeatus , that is. (and a  to Kull, sorry it's
been drilled into my head). Though the P. biaculeatus has been hanging with a Macrodactyla doreensis lately at her temporary residence. It would be nice to bring her home to another anemone though. My reasoning for wanting one that has split in someone elses tank w/ VHO is so that i may know that that specimen has already been thriving in that type of setting. My last E. quadricolor died quite quickly so i am trying to avoid that again. anyway, Kull, a month or so would be perfect. I am in SC, but i will pay you for shipping. oh and how do I know "it" is a "she", well i don't, it's just a feeling and it sounds better than "it" ------------- 125g whannabe reef 30g FW w/puffers |

I know that Entacmaea quadricolor is the natural symbiont for Premnas biaculeatus but right now my P. biaculeatus is living in a Macrodectyla doreensis at the LFS where my fish have been for the past month and they seem quite happy together. I would like to get an anemone especially now since I have upgraded my lighting. I have read that it is best to get an anemone that it considerably larger then the fish it will host so for that reason I am leaning more towards the M. doreensis since it is easier to find larger specimens of this spp.. Do you know of any reason not to have something other than natural host for the P. biaculeatus if it seems to be adapting fine to another anemone spp.? ------------- 125g whannabe reef 30g FW w/puffers |

No I don't have any reason to not buy a different host. I just like specific tanks. Like I use to have a Florida tank, then I had a Hawaii tank, then I had a tide pool, and stuff like that. But I understand that most people don't care about that stuff they just want a pretty tank. If he hosts, and is happy, I guess that is all that really matters.
