has anyone ever seen black spots on their cleaner shrimp? One of
mine has developed these black spots on her, when she molts they are gone but then reappear slowly. They're mostly on the female who otherwise seems very happy and is carrying a new batch of eggs. ------------- 125g whannabe reef 30g FW w/puffers |

F.Y.I.
I have been told that these spots are a fungus that will eventually kill the shrimp and will spread to other shrimp, but harm nothing else. not sure what to do now. i don't want my other shrimp to get it, but i have no where to put the infected shrimp. ------------- 125g whannabe reef 30g FW w/puffers |

Thankyou, but I am in SC. I do have a fuge, but since it is on the
same system as the main tank i don't want to risk it. not sure how this is transmitted. I don't think it is going to clear up since it comes back after every molt. :( ------------- 125g whannabe reef 30g FW w/puffers |

The shrimp may live for a long time this way and in a healthier tank who's to say that another shrimp will catch the fungus. Well it already has a friend, or three (2 cleaner 2 peppermint total).
And it is contagious. I found spots on the other cleaner last night. the good news is at least i don't have to get rid of the other one 'cause they both have it now. Evidently, Cleaner Shrimp like to eat parasites which are protozoa but they have no interest in fungus.
