Hi to whomever! I have never posted anything so I may mess up things. Inadvance, sorry but I must take the first step. I have way to many mushrooms and need to get rid of them. I don't want to take out my current live rock and replace it. Yet I don't want to polute my water by cutting them off and Ideas what I might be alble to do? The tank is 220 or abouts reef and fish. I would like some ideas as well on setting up quarantine tank. Thanks to any replys. I live in St. George.

First off welcome to our site!
with a tank that size and were you dont want to remove the rock I will give you my 2 cents.
I have been sucsessful lately at gently pulling off each mushroon with some forcepts. This seems to do little damage to the mushrooms and I notice very little waste coming off of the mushroom. I have a 125 gallon and frag mushrooms all the time without problems. I am not sure how many you have to get rid of but if you feel uncomfortible just do a few at a time. You can then save the mushrooms in a seperate tank and sell them, traded them or whatever.

WELCOME!

I have a 120 and I just cut them off, sometimes a dozen or so at a time. I've never had a problem though I do run carbon. I know Will does the same thing.

I am also inundated with mushrooms in my tank.  If you want to get rid of them you must pull them off the rock and not leave any pieces behind.  If any piece is left behind you will soon just have more mushrooms.  I cut mine to trade or sell and the "Stumps" grow back and sometimes grow into more than 1 new 'shroom.

If you do just want to cut them, you will have no problem in a large tank.  i have cut up to 150 at a time and never had any pollution problems in my 180.

It depends on what variety you have.  I have pretty common ones so I usually ask $5 for a bag of 5-8 of them.
