Does it work?

I haven't tried a reverse flow before, does that work better?

well .. heres my thoughts ...

the Co will go into the pump get chopped up .. than it MUST go threw the CC as gas rises threw the water ... it made more sence to go reverse flow .. (bottom to top) ...

That's still pretty low for a reactor effluent.  Mine effluent is closer to 30 dKH.  Maybe it's not yet settled in.  Or you need to increase bubbles.

I using crushed coral too.  Caribsea Geomarine crushed coral.

What's the water flow from your reactor?  What's the bubble count?

Water flow is about a drip per second ... and ~ 10 bubbles per minuet

Is it keeping up with your tank's demand?  If so, then you don't need to do anything.

My reactor is at 35 ml/min (the drips almost form a constant stream) and my bubbles are about 60-80 per minute.

Well .. I dont know if there is a flaw in my design .. I am getting Co2 in my return line to the tank .... I guess I need to add a T in there to vent it off ... I have the return line out of the water .. so the co2 can vent before it enters the sump ...

Yeah, there shouldn't be any gas in your reactor.  Even at 80 bubbles/min mine is all dissoved in the suction of the circulating pump.

Well .. I am also thinking that it could have been trapped air in the CC so I am going to watch it for a few days ... as long as the Co2 gas dose not enter the sump I am ok right? if it vents above the water its ok???? .. my PH is 8.0 right now .. (normal)

Testing the effluent today told me that the Alk is off the scale .. using the salifert test kit. Calcium is 480 ppm ... and PH is 7.0. From the reading I have done the PH needs to drop to 6.5 for best reaction ...

BTW thank you for helping me out here! I have so many questions I am sure that I will keep you busy today .. Wink
