Ok, now I have a mushroom tag-along that came with one of the shells for my hermits the other day.  It spreads out in the tank and looks nice except for one thing--The 'stem' seems to stretch out rather than stay short and stocky to a long threadlike appendage.  Other than this the thing looks great.

I am wondering (figuring) if this is bad and what to do about it?

It will stretch out to almost 3-4" at times, even with the rest of it fully expanded.  Does it just need trimmed and re-attatched or is there some other problem I don't know about?

Very normal. It is trying to get more light most likely. Move it to a spot that is brighter and it will hug the rock. Nothing wrong with it stretching out. If it doesn't like its spot, it may detach and float to a better spot.

If you cut it off, you can attach it to another spot, and then you'll have two! My mushrooms don't like to be in a high flow area. They will let go and float to a place they like better......

I was trying to move stuff around, and found a few little things stuck to it.  Pulled them off, but the mushroom came with.  So I attatched him to the rock, and we'll see if anything grows from what was left on the shell.  Can't get much more light than what it was.  Although when I run just my antinics it tends to be smaller.  When I put on some yellow light it stretches out.  I might have to move the rock it's on--not sure hoh much flow it's getting there...
