what's the best way to drill acrylic? It's 1/4 inch thick. Will a normal drill bit
do it?

a normal bit will do it.  make sure the bit is sharp or it will "melt" the acrylic from the heat build up.  heat build up is your biggest problem with drilling acrylic.  and go slowly as you exit the hole so you don't chip the inside too badly.

how big a hole are you drilling?  hole saws work great in acrylic, just make sure you use a center pilot bit to prevent the bit from walking...

Also you want to back out the the bit a couple times and dip the bit in water, this will help to keep pt cool and keep you from warping the acrylic.
