I am going to have a 20"x20"x20" tank built and I think I have decided I will just go with a metal halide/T5 combo fixture.
Question is do I go with a 150w or 250w halide??

If you are doing a MH T5 combo i would go 150w or 175w. IMO a 250w is way to much light for that shallow of a tank. My first tank was a standard 30g with a 175w and it was perfect.

I think 150w plus some T5's is plenty.

I was going to use a 150w setup on my new 18x18x18 tank but am sticking with LEDs. I figured the 150w setup with a good bulb will be plenty of light for anything I threw at it.

K cool that is what I was thinking. I have a 250w over my 60 cube but I also have LED suppliment so with just the halide it doesn't look like enough light.
