hello, i'm new to this forum

Has anyone try making a canopy for a 10gal tank(none of my lfs have any for a 10 >:(, i'm trying to make a canopy which you can install lights in them.

I have not made one, but I'm sure it would be easy.  I would just use 1x2's and build a frame then encase it with oak or whatever.  SSpargur made a canopy for his tank.  You should check out his post in the DYI catagory.

Hi and welcome to the forum.  As Marcus said, I built my own canopy for my 80 gal tank.  There is a thread titled the exact same as yours back a month or so ago in the DIY thread.

If I can help you with a design or with any design questions, just let me know.

Step by step instructions....  Don't know if this is the style you want though, you may want a lid or door access.  I helped build the canopy on Danny's 55 gallon tank and it turned out nice.  The front and top lift as one section to allow better access to the tank.  If you are going with power compact florescents over the tank I would go for something like this and skip the hood:

They have acrylic legs that sit on the tank edge.
