Depends on the type of coral you want living in the tank.
How many outlets, of what size?
Why do you want a spraybar?
Is it coming from a sump/refugium or is this to be a closed loop?

I guess I could elaborate on that. 6 feet on a 55 gal means along the entire back and along both sides. Sounds to me that he is planning to use this for his entire tank circulation (I think that is a good idea). 3,000 gph is like having 10 powerheads each 300 gph. That doesn't sound like too much to me? Especially considering in a spray bar I'm picturing 16 outlets or so? Maybe more?
I have an ampmaster 3600 and that is nowhere near enough flow in my tank (coming out of four outlets). But work that as a closed loop and I think you'd be happy.

It is coming out of a sump and it would be olong the back and on both sides. I was thinking of just ten outlets but I might cansider more if it will work better. Could you get two return pumps and run each side with a diferant pump. the reson I ask is one side would be for high flow and the other would be low flow

If I have a drilled tank with a overflow box it won't matter will it because if the water is coming into the sump as fast as the pump is pumping it out it will work right

Not exactly. The overflow can only handle a certain amount of water effectively. After a point it backs up so far that it overflows the tank and depending on the size and running level of the sump it may not hold all the water that would drain during a power outage.
IMO, for a 55 gal., 2-4 nozzles are better than 10 because the water coming out of each nozzle will be moving fast enough to make some action. A trickle coming out of 10 nozzles would give pathetically slow water movement in the tank.
If you are looking at buying another pump to give more flow, a closed loop setup with 2-4 nozzle spray bar would be the best solution, IMO.
So what kinds of coral?

I put a spray bar on the back of my tank. I used flexible tubing and it has
been working really great!
I didn't want to use the T's with lockline because I didn't want to be able
to see the plumbing inside the tank.
I put most of the outlets to spray towards the front, to make a circular
water motion and keep detritus in suspension. I did put a few holes to go
behind the rocks I have to keep the flow in there active, too.
The only place where the water is calm is the side where the built in
overflow box is! But, it's only a small spot and my 'shrooms love it there!
By using clear tubing, I noticed it is getting some algae in it! It is
becoming an algae scrubber!
