Ok, we have never been to Aquatica so today we went on a field trip.  Jeff, Shane (pa_reptileman) and I packed in the car and headed to Orem.  I now have a whole new appreciation for acro's (don't tell Jeff)LOL.  I looked at their display tank for over an hour.  I love everything in that tank.  It is my dream tank. I wanted some of the bright orange or green zoos but they didn't have any for sale.  Maybe next time!! If you haven't been there..you need to go check it out.  Well worth the drive!

I am quite a fan of aquatica. their fish always look great, and their display tank was awesome. I just wish they had a little better coral selection

I also have to say I like that store....my one thought is that they treat thier fish only system with copper{at least that is what I was told by someone working there}, that can be pretty hard on a fish that is going into a reef tank......so just make sure you acclimate them for a long long time.......

yes they do treat their systems with copper. I have heard this is not good long term for tangs. I have gotten two bangaiis from them. A dragon goby, and my yellow belly hippo. all are doing great, but the dragon goby didnt make it through QT.

Their fish tanks do say copper treated.  I just kept going back to that display tank.....the corals in that tank are just amazing.

This is a normal procedure with most fish stores.  It is the best overall treatment of fish. Usually they are not in the tanks long enough to have adverse reactions.

Deb,

I hate to tell you this, but on Thursday I night picked up a small branch rock from the $20 frag tank at Aquatica that had both bright orange and bright green zoos on it...  i guess I beat you to your dream rock Shocked  Give me a few months and when it's ready to frag, I'll let you know Big%20smile

I can't believe that some of you guys, especially Mike, have never been to Aquatica.  It has to be my favorite LFS.  Like everybody else said, the setup is awesome and the display tank is just out of this world.  I like dealing with Shawn too, very personable and honest.

Aquatica is very impressive.  I agree with what has been said above and definetly is one of the top LFS in UT.

I agree with Dinkhim - Aquatica is definitely Utah Co.'s best store and certainly on par with of any LFS that I have been to in the state IMO Big%20smile

And I can't believe Mr. Savage has never graced it with his presence Wink

I tried to talk the last store in tooele not to get rid of their salt water stuff but they were sure it wasn't worth keeping!
What?! You pooped in the refrigerator, and ate the entire wheel of cheese?! I'm not even mad.... That's actually amazing!

I admit it, and most already know that I'm a fish store junkieConfused.  I try to get to Shawns place at least 2-3 times a month, if not to buy some of his awssome sps he bings in, or the great fish (wrasses) he gets, but just to visit with Shawn or just stare at his display. I've made some good friends in this hobby, and Shawn, Eric, Randy, Brad, Doug are just some of them.

Next time I go I'm taking a lawn chair and lunch so that I can sit in front of the display tank. LOL

The Aquarium lets me sit in front of their display without bringing lunch. I do spend too much money though.
