I just heard about Deep Sea Aquariums on Washington St. in Ogden. Dave is the owner. Their phone # is 983-2738. Has anyone been there?

I don't know. This info was given to me by a fw hobbyist that called me to get some Oolitic sand. "Dave" had given this hobbyist my name and phone number, evidently having seen it on this MB. He had asked this hobbyist to bring him 600 lbs. of sand, evidently to use and sell in his store. I told the hobbyist that to profit from materials collected from public lands, one must obtain permission and pay for a permit.

When I found out that he was a fw hobbyist not even looking for sand for an African Cichlid tank, I figured that both the hobbyist and "Dave" were simply naive. I declined giving him info regarding the location of sand and rock.

Good idea!!! Doesn't suprise me, though... another non-experienced person thinkin they're gonna make it rich in the pet industry. IMO, with Aquatic Dreams being so close and constantly upgrading their systems with the best products/equipment and having supreme customer service... their's very little chance of long-term hope for a new LFS(especially, a naive one). Ryan(Aquatic Dreams) has mentioned expanding to include another location... think I'll wait till then to shop in another location ... here in Ogden. Carl, any thoughts???

The owner is frequently on this messag board.  I think if you just give him some time to get the store running, you'll see him posting store specials and soliciting club support and friendship.

I spoke to the owner last night, seems nice and very anxious to help and to meet us. He's curious who is spreading the news of his store because he hasn't done any advertising and his doors aren't open yet. The store is at 2910 Washington Blvd. in Ogden in the basement of the bank. He hopes to open next week, he is still waiting on his fish and merchandise.

Sure Suzy, get all excited about a new LFS in the land of OG. Wave as you go by or even stop and say Hi, I'm only a couple of miles away from there on Riverdale road on the way to the new LFS. Give me a call when you're coming down, I'll give you good directions if you don't already know where it's at.

Of courseI'll stop by, Doug! I'll just ask for Mr Big?

LostCause, isn't that city big enough for 2 LFSs? Maybe even 3?

When I first started keeping SW aquariums there were probably five LFS in the Ogden area (and even one in Brigham City). Now, its down to just one or maybe two. But, we seem to get another McDonalds about every month. Where are people's priorities!?

True, Shane!   With WalMarts going everywhere... we should be happy they're not selling SW stuff!

I have many actually. Was wondering of the affilliation with DKO Aquariums that poked around here a few months back.

If it is him, ... I will refrain from further comment.

Doesn't matter anyway, I am loyal to Ryan's store. "He had me at hello, Aquatic Dreams."
