Ok, I purchased a replavement heater and was about to mount the controller on the wall, grabbed my hammer and Ohhhhh, Noooo bumped the corner of the tank. It cracked and there is a hairline crack heading the other way (About 1 inch long).

Ok, currently there is no leaking, but with a 10 gallon is there enough water pressure to further crack it causing it to leak, or will I be OK.

If I should replace I am think I might as well go with a larger tank like a 20 gallon.

Since my 10 gallon is cycled and I am just waiting for the diatom to go away. If I switched over to a 20 gallon, it would not cause the cycle to start over if I use the same rock, water and sand (Of course I will add more water and more sand)

(I added the picture to my journal thread, and removed from here)

Man this just bumbs me out.

Be thankful you didn't just setup a 180 gallon tank . I say go with the upgrade. That crack would always be on the back of my mind.

With the chip going past the seam, the only thing holding the water back is the silicone. If you should bump the glass from either side Im sure that you will have water all over the place. ( I know from experience with my kids tanks)

Go with the upgrade, no matter what size you have you will always dream bigger.

I figured as much. I may upgrade, but I was sitting here thinking that I just bought new lights just for this tank last week. If I go to a 20 gal then I would have to buy more lights bigger filter, bigger PHs. I just may go by a 10 gal at walmart for $10 and switch everything tomorrow. I do not have fish yet so should not be too difficult.

Com'on Rob,

You're telling us that you didn't do that on purpose?  Whuups,  looks like I HAVE to get a bigger tank now.

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth ... then He let it cycle.

Have you read my dinosaur theory yet?
