It's way simpler than you are making it.
All coral do best if given light acclimation procedures. Start out lower in the tank and move up as desired or until they show signs of displeasure(unusual shrinking, burning, dieing back, etc.
All coral do best if kept at least 3 inches from possible touching.
All coral do best if moved to a new location if within a few days they don't look so well because they are downstream from a more powerful coral or are too near to a coral with Sweeper Tentacles. Almost all LPS have sweeper tentacles of 1/2-3" long
You may already be familiar with the basics:
SPS love higher light and higher flow,
LPS in general do best in less light and less flow than SPS and brain coral and fungia like to be on the sand,
soft coral do best in lower light, yet can handle it all but need to be acclimated to the highest light and highest flow.
Follow that you will rarely have any problems.
