Hi guys!

Well we got the blue tang and the yellow tang.  Needless to say our purple tang and scopas tang aren't to excited about the new arrivals, especially the blue tang.  They seem to have it out for him.  Also it seems as though I got lucky and purchased a blue tang with ich.  I personally was not very interested in him but I know that it made my wife happy, and a happy wife is a happy tank

I am wondering in many posts others have mentioned the use of garlic.  I think that we will stop by the GNC and grab some.  I am wondering though how many drops go into 1 meal?  For example currently I feed them one cube.  How many drops of garlic would be needed for 1 cube?  I definately dont want to over do it, I really do like my other fish.  I don't want them to get ich either.

It sounds like you've read through some of the other posts, correct?  The garlic I saw at GNC was in capsule forms.  Don't get their Garlic 6000 - it is a solid pill & won't dissolve in water.  Their Odorless Garlic has a white capsule that you can open.  I bought both of them.  I probably caught the ich too late, though.  A lot of people really like the Kyolic garlic.  It comes out in drops, so will mix with your food easily.  I tend to think this is probably better, but don't take my word for it.  It costs around $14 at Smith's grocery store.  It's in the vitamin aisle.

Many many many wishes of good luck to you.  I also had crushed garlic, and that didn't work for me.  Well, to be blunt, even Marine No Ich didn't work for me.  Like I said, I probably caught it too late.  I ended up with 6 kinds of garlic.  I think other people have had great luck, so I'm sure your tang will be okay.  You also have other options, but I'm sure you know that.  Garlic is a great first option.

Brandon,

How big of a tank do you have? That is a lot of tangs. One of the easiest way for your fish to get ich is by being stressed out. With that many tangs in a tank that may not be big enough, the ich may be difficult to get rid of.

I would definately try garlic. The easiest garlic to get comes in a drip bottle, Kent's garlic extreme, you can get at any LFS. When I use it I drip some on a piece of nori, then feed my tangs. They love it.

As an alternative, I know people on the board have used Marine No-ich with some success. Just search around the message board for more info on this subject.

On a side note.... sometimes what your wife wants, (or even you want) may not be what is best for your tank. My wife loves angels and butterfly fish, but they are definately not best for my reef tank! I really would like another Powder blue tang, but I know they are difficult to keep and probably wouldnt survive in my tank. I hope your regal tang makes it, but you may want to do some more research in the future before making a purchase like that.
