Topic: What Now? Posted: April 03 2007 at 7:59pm |
Okay, I got the 90g moved into the family room and got the water, sand, and rock back in. Hurrah!! The sump pump, barrel idea worked great!!
Now, will the sand and rock rejuvenate? What do I need to do?
Thanks,

depending on how long you let the sand sit in buckets (longer than 4 hours if I remember correctly and things start to die-off), I would say that the rock will rejuvenate the sand. I think you should wait a week and then test your nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia to see where those are at. As soon as they are good then you can add some stuff.
Congratulations on getting it all moved. How was moving it?

Not bad. LIke I said the blue drum and sump pump idea worked. I made sure the pump was clean, of course. I was able to back up to the old owner's door, so we didn't have to carry stuff too far. 3 five g jugs and two buckets carried what the barrel wouldn't hold. At my house that pump sent water 100ft level and 10ft vertical on a slow uphill angle at about a 20gpm. Better than totin' and balin' ! Now Ii'm an old hand, eh??
Thanks,

TOO LATE> Today, I went to SLC, and hit every LFS on the East side, while Marcie and my grandaughter went to the zoo with friends! Lots of ideas! Can't wait.

Yeah, I'm still working on Marcie for the bathtub lagoon!! She thought two truckloads of stuff was a little much, though
