Oh man, I wish my digital camera wasn't in pieces here on my desk

All my snails are in the mood

One Cerith laid a big long string the other night and now the water is totally cloudy because not only the Mexican, but the Astrea are doing it.... spawning. If I only had a nickle for every zygote

The normally reclusive peppermint shrimp are out, catching & eating eggs.

So then I looked over into the fraggin tank to see if the feeling is mutual and immediately saw a pooof of eggs from a mexican snail.

It's pretty impressive, to me, to see groups of snails piggybacked on top of each other at the top of the highest rocks with milky streams pouring out of two or three and every once in a while a poof of eggs from another.

It's a good thing at least one of us is figuring out how to propogate snails since it looks like there will slim pickings from Florida.  Way to go Mark . Let us know when you have annoucements to make!

The last time this happened in one of my new tank setups, over the following year I gave away literally hundreds of Mexican Turban Snails. Ain't life great!

That's really cool!!  You wouldn't happen to know of a type of snail that lays a round sack with eggs inside, would you?  I keep finding egg sacks.  Each sack normally has 8 eggs in it, and they last for 8 days.

When I read the title, I couldn't help but let my mind wander. My tank is 6' long, but that's just a little too kinky for me. Besides, I'm sure my cleaner shrimp would be picking on me the whole time which is rather distracting.

You would let a little thing like a cleaner shrimp distract you from the mission?  Oh, dear.  That's kinda sad, Patrick!     Wink

You gotta understand. My cleaner shrimp scares me now and he chases my arm everytime I put my arm in the tank now. When I first got him, I thought it was cute that he'd climb on my arm and stuff (I left my wrasses and peppermint shrimp climb on me, no biggy). BUT this cleaner shrimp seems to think the hair on my arms must be worms or something, cause the first time he climbed on me he was picking at my arm and Drew Blood!

Now I chase him away with my finger whenever I have to work the tank. He scares me

He Adores you!  Isn't that sweet?  He's taking care of you!  Give him a name like Doc.  Or Nurse.  Come on now, you're a big guy!  The loss of a little blood won't hurt, and it's good protein.  He's just taking care of ya!

I could trade you Cleaners.  I have two that have never gone for blood.  Well, not my arm anyway.  But I don't have hairy arms.  Nae-Nae make it all better!

Renee, the answer is Astrea Snails.

My wandering mind is a dangerous thing
