I am new to the marine world and will attend the meeting on thursday night.I am looking forward to purchasing and placing the first corals in my tank.Because my tank is only 30 gals.I know I will be limited in what I can do,but am excited none the less.I also want to thank Adam for all his help (e-mails) in getting my tank set up and ready. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions,I will welcome them as well as appreciate them.I know absolutely nothing about what I am doing and in it's way it makes this scary as well as exciting(a feeling I'm sure all of you remember).I can be e-mailed at [email protected] or contacted at 576-1038.I also am on this sit once or twice daily. THANKS and see you at the meeting!!

Terry,

Welcome to the wonderful and exciting world of reef tanks.  I'm sure many people will be happy to share ideas with you.  My advice.... patience.  But please ask many questions here and at the meetings, that's what everyone is here for.

Adam

Come to a meeting, they’re fun!

You will find it to be lots of fun I'm sure.  Don't forget to read up on a coral before purchasing them.  I know there are lots of corals that I would love to have in my tank but I haven't bought them because of what I have read.  I'm sure that once I get more experience under my belt, I will try them out.  Don't forget to test your water qualities and READ.  I've been in the hobby for two years and I still have lots to learn.

Its hard to point out "easy" corals because its hit or miss sometimes.  I find xenia too easy, but some folks have such a hard time keeping it alive.  With xenia I have found that they do really well as close to the light as possible and additions of Iodine are criticle.  I also have a tough time with gorgonian sp. but other folks have no problem.  Its funny though because the same folks that have problems with xenia can keep gorgonians with no problem.  I've just come to realize that.  Maybe there is some connection.  Anyway good luck to you and have fun!
