A call for corals - 2008

 

In order to increase the effectiveness of our fund raising efforts, the club presidency would like to ask everyone to consider donating coral colonies or frags or anything LIVE to the WMAS. Your donation will be added to our tables o'frags and sold to other hobbyists.

 

We are interested in most anything LIVE; coral, fish, macro algae, phytoplankton, live rock, inverts, etc.  Although we concentrate on corals, we are not ashamed to offer other interesting items to our members and visitors.

 

If you are interested in donating, please contact me at your first convenience. If you are planning to come the meeting, just bring your donation along.  We will have people available to take it off your hands!

 

 

Those are two great questions!

 

Here is how the frag fest works: there will be a lot of pre-bagged coral frags available for purchase. Each bag will have an identifier (so you know what you're buying) and a price. We will have a short description of the coral and its typical husbandry requirements before the doors open to the frag room. Additionally, Paid Members will only pay half of the price marked on the bags.

 

We will have  a short live auction. The presidency will choose a few of the best colonies or frags and these will be auctioned at the start of the meeting. These are normally hard to find coral frags, abnormally cool items that we don't have too many of, or colonies that we don't have the heart to cut up!  We've chosen to do a live auction rather than a silent auction this time because they are more fun and people don't have to wait around for the auction to end.

 

2) How do you want the items we bring to be packaged/tagged/etc?

Just bring your donations appropriately packaged. If you have a coral frag, then bag it and write a brief description (common name). A member of the presidency will take it from you at the door and price the bag. If you are donating green water, then bottles would be appropriate, live rock - maybe a bucket. Whatever works to transport it to the meeting house, should work to take it home!

 

 

 

 

Yes, everyone is welcome. If you want you can join at the meeting but there is never any pressure to join. Paid members get frags at the fragfest for 1/2 price. New members pay the prorated price of $2/month their first year so membership would be $14 for the rest of the year.
