    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=96">jfinch</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 9172<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> November&nbsp;23&nbsp;2005 at 9:35am<br /><br /><P>Today's useless trivia:&nbsp; Acrylic is a generic term for a whole family of polymers (super glue actually fits into this catagory).&nbsp; Plexiglas is the trade name for poly methyl methacrylate by the European company, Rohm &amp; Haas and is still sold in Europe.&nbsp; Cyro is Rohm &amp; Haas's North American Arm and sells this same product in the USA as Acrylite.&nbsp; DuPont also manufactures poly methyl methacrylate under the trade name Lucite.</P><P>I too suggest Regional Supply and Weld-On 4.&nbsp; I've build a few sumps and skimmers and none have failed (knock on wood <IMG src="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">).&nbsp; It's very easy to do and you end up with a design and size you want or need.</P>]]>

These days it's called acrylic, not plexiglas, btw. </FONT></P><P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=2>I would caution you regarding this. There is a high risk that your&nbsp;DIY acrylic tank will fail, spilling water all over. It's much safer to have an experienced person do it or at least have them teach you how to do it. There are several here on this MB that have good experience at it.</FONT></P><P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=2>Alternatively, the cost of buying and drilling a used glass aquarium makes an acrylic sump&nbsp;a real hassle, not to mention about twice&nbsp;the&nbsp;price.</FONT></P><P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=2>And I'm curious about why you called it a "sump/wet/dry filter".
