    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=119">tomason</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 631<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> June&nbsp;15&nbsp;2003 at 10:54pm<br /><br /><P>I got some computer fans for my canopy, and they're quieter than the desk fan I have been running, which wasn't too loud for me (though I would imagine it could be for some&#111;ne else).</P><P>Putting a fan over your sump or in your canopy also depends &#111;n what you're trying to accomplish.&nbsp; Some ballasts and bulbs (like mine) have a maximum operating temperature and need fans to keep them within range.&nbsp; The fan for my canopy also keeps my tank under 80 degrees.</P><P>I got a micro power supply for the fans too, which I'll be able to use for some cold cathode mo&#111;n lights some day.</P><P>-Tom</P>]]>

I would think it work better to run the fans over the lights which are the source of the heat but I have not had much experance with this. If running a fan over the sump is a good way to cool the tank then this may be a better&nbsp; opti&#111;n for me]]>
