    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=4052">ajsahm</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 60853<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> December&nbsp;16&nbsp;2012 at 8:14pm<br /><br />The tank is new and the bulbs run warm. &nbsp;They are almost 6 months old. &nbsp;I cannot seem to get it lower. &nbsp;right now house temp it set at 68deg. &nbsp;I have 4 fans set up in the back two running down and the other two up so I do not get too much evap. &nbsp;So I have been leaning toward and LED build. &nbsp;Looks like for temp reasons I need to as well as to save money on bulb replacements. &nbsp;I am clearly not testing for enough so that is a must buy on monday. &nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Reefdup - can i have too much coralline? I am shocked how fast it grew. I started with one rock with a little of it on it to the whole tank. &nbsp;Your blog is great! &nbsp;I have been reading through it this evening. &nbsp;</div>]]>

But, shrinking isn't usually a sign of alkalinity deficiency.  It can be linked to temperature...and 81 is getting up there (especially when some of the cheap hobby thermometers can be off by 2 deg.)  I'd bring the tank slowly down to 76-78 degrees.  Was the tank new when you got it?  If not, do you know how old the bulbs are?  ]]>
