Use a good quality test kit like Salifert. This will tell you what you need to dose in the first place. Regular water changes also help to balance things out but depending of the size of your aquarium it can get expensive. Get a good two part alkalinity and calcium. Magnesium is also important. You don't need to tier the dosing between days. What was mentioned above about waiting a few minutes between is sufficient. In fact IMO its better to dose your CA and Alk in same period of time to keep them balanced. ]]>

I have to regularly add Alk. I prefer to add early morning as this is when levels are at their lowest. Never raise your DkH level more than 1 in a 24 hour period. It is generally good to wait at least a few minutes or so between Ca and Alk to avoid any precipitate. ]]>

I.e.: What is your preferred dosing regimen, timing, and amounts? What would you say is too much at a time before you see negative effects on your corals/fish? Do you tier your dosing... calcium one day, alk the next, mag the next? ]]>
