I think sure the little money would help support the addiction, I'm not looking to become a full scale breeder, BUT GOSH THOSE LITTLE GUYS ARE SO CUTE!!!!! Kevin- your plan is solid.  I have a tank just like that, and so do others (Dion, Heil, etc). The tough part is water flow through the compartments.  I run one return pump that feeds each compartment, most people have it feed one side and then flow from section to section.  Keeping your pairs separated will work well and I think it's a good move.

Pam, I'm going to do just breeding pairs in the tank, thinking three sections, clowns on each end and something else in the middle.  I'm planing on using big sheets of plexiglass to separate the sections but have some slits in it so water can flow through.  There is a chance they wouldn't breed due to others too close, I figure I can try and see what happens.
That would be so cute to have tons of clowns hosting one anemone :-)

Hey Jeff,
 Is your 120 going to be a community tank? Or just clowns? The reason I ask is because if you are having a community tank you may not want to use the dividers. It really is just personal preference and what you want to do. I personally would not put two or more pairs of mated clown fish in the same tank as Mark stated they will fight and most likely will not lay because of the tension in the tank. I have each one of my mated pairs in there own tanks. This is completely up to you.

 They are very territorial. My laying pair is in our 110 and I would not think about introducing another clown in there, they would kill it.

 I already touched on the lighting on the other forum but I also wanted to mention that in my grow out tank with my clowns that are 1 month old, they do have a anemone and so the light has to be sufficient for that as well. I was curious if they would take to an anemone and as soon as I put it in there they all began to host it. It is pretty funny watching all the little ones trying to host one anemone. In my other grow out tanks I may not use anemones so I wouldn't really need lighting but I prefer the anemone in the tank.

Are you thinking of having more than one pair spawning in the 120. That will be more difficult. Spawning Clownfish don't take well to another spawning pair too close by. One pair will tend to dominate and either inhibit the others spawning behavior or in the worst case, ostracize the others to the point where they eventually die. IMO, if breeding is the goal, giving each pair it's own 20-40 gal tank is going to be more productive.

Regarding having enough light for the anemone, you will quickly find out whether those lights work by watching how the anemone behaves.

I'm taking a 120 gallon and getting mated pairs to lay eggs and have offspring.
Agree'd Mark - it would just be too sad to separate them from their anemone.
