I'm running a sumpless system with a goodly amount of livestock.  Yesterday I tested and my PO4 was .5 (iirc) as well as my nitrates being about 20. (I should have written the numbers down, Alk = 10, Ca 390, Mag 1320)  Anyway, with the absence of a skimmer (and no possibility to add one), I am wanting to utilize what I do have available to me to keep water quality up.
 
I did a 15% water change yesterday (the first time using RO/DI water) to help.
 
I have a deep sand bed and lots of LR.  I have recently added an in-tank refugium with Chaeto and Agar.  I have high flow (IMO) and am running AC.  I keep a goodly amount of soft corals.  My CuC is pretty healthy, IMO, too.
 
What other "helps" would you suggest?

I don't understand the increasing concern about PO4?
Only periodically do I use a chemical media to remove Phosphate and when I do, the less expensive Activated Alumina works just fine for me.
Please help me understand. Confused

OK - the nicer stuff requires half as much, so it's really not any more expensive.  Can we get enough people to commit to the 7,  1/2 lb portions @ about $15 each? 
 
Does anyone need other stuff from BRS so we can get to the free shipping @ $175?  I've already hit that twice myself in the last 6 weeks. Embarrassed

The next size up, if I recall is a 5 gallon bucket. The price per pound is about the same as the 4lb size. So if you buy 3, 4lb size, it will be cheaper and if we can get 5 it will be even a little less. Also 5 would get free shippping! I'm not in a rush to place an order anymore, but it would be cool to get the discount.
