Looks like the larvae of a crab. If it were me, I'd leave it in. I have no idea! As creepy as it is I figured it couldn't be good, plus it was living in a hole in my Acan so it just had to go!

I had this pop out of an Acan and it left a perfectly round hold too! Its pretty creepy looking!!!

Most of all the acan colonies I used to get and frag had some type of "bug" in them they have a shell that looks like a pistasio sp? Shell and when you remove them they leave a perfect round hole. It could be that maybe one of your fish picked it out of the acan. Is the hole all the way down in the skeleton? I have this great colony and just noticed that it has a hole (new) in it. Looks like something just took a small drill bit to it.
 
Any ideas? The colony is happy and healthy overall...
 
I have tangs, a blue jaw trigger, clowns, some wrasses...
