I turned to the table saw with my scrap acrylic. I wanted teeth in the top anyways. I tryed putting pressure between the peices this time. PLenty between the glass and acrylic. Then did every seam with plenty. HTH. I have about a 6inch square that is where the water will downflow. Hope this won't give out. Makes my dreams of building a costom glass tank a pipe dream. Some things are better left to the pro's....... ]]>

I don't really clean the glass. Maybe thats my problem. I use 100% pure sylicone GE style. I think it will bond better to the glass. I can't really remember what side it fails on. It seems the glass side. should i scratch up the glass?]]>

Why not use a structure of smaller or flater pieces of LBTR to hold back the algae and a place for more biological filtration and use a plastic food storage container (cut up if necessary) to hold back the sand from the pump inlet. Is the silicone seal failing on the glass side or the acrylic side of the seal? I used acetone then white vinegar to clean the surfaces before I siliconed everything in place. I havn't had any problems - going on five years. Good luck.]]>
