Thank you both Burt and Adam for your help and your replies to my questions on my new bio tank setup. When i bought the tank they told me to wait on any corals for a while? Why i do not know as i am new at this hobby. All your kind reply's are really a great help to me. thank's so very much. Bill

Hey Bill-
You can put corals in starting on day 1.  My advice is to post some pictures here first, then start adding corals, and third don't buy any more fish for a while.
Are you really in Massachusetts?  There are some amazing hobbyists there and a great local club you should check into.  www.bostonreefers.com

You will find lots of help here. You should post a new topic for your questions under this forum. Just go to the You Can Do It Fourm and click the new topic button at the top. More people will see your post and you won't be hijacking someone elses thread. Real quickly just monitor your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. When ammonia and nitrite are undetectable for a couple days your good to add more coral and fish. Start out with some easy ones like mushrooms, zoos, or leathers and build from there as your experience grows. I think your salinity is more like 1.023 to 1.024 which is right on. Good Luck

Hi i am new on this sight and just set up a 14 gal bio cube reef tank for the first time. i am retired and am 66 years of age. Any idears would be a great help to me because i am new to this whole game of salt water reef tanks. So far i have put in 20 pounds of live sand and 14 pounds of live rock with one small clown fish to help get the tank to go through the cycle and my salt setting is at about 10.23 to 10.24 in that range. Can any one  tell me about how long before i can put any live corals in my tank? Thanks Thefu, Iv been waiting for the corals to spread so the tank looks Full of corals Smile any pointers on if theres ways to get them growing faster? I have some red Mushrooms That I will trade for something new and bright zoos or pulsers or anything that looks cool. If you ever want to get rid of the star, simply add a harlequin shrimp, and then plead ignorance to the wife LOL

Tank is looking good.

The blue light (black light) you are talking about is the actinic light of the group. It helps make your corals glow better basically.
