Suzy - I had a major Cyano and algae problem here about a month ago - I found a post out on reefcentral http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=20e9541837df6cac9fb293960d9f66c2&threadid=147010 as well as talking with the guys at Mountain Shadow Marine found I was doing a few things wrong. I have them listed out on this thread as well as what I did to resolve it. As of today I don't have any cyano or algae. Thanks,Guys! I checked out Shineks site. Crap! I was supposed to take out the big stuff before I added the sugar sized stuff! Do you think it will just move up, where I can get it? Or should I stir it up? I could be patient and wait and see......! Does anybody know anything about these "recharge" kits? Has anybody ordered one ? I'm thinking maybe we can get together and trade some sand.....And thanks for the caulerpa offer! I just can't get it to grow. I had a sump full in our last tank, but this tank it just won't grow. I added new lights, and I know there is nutrients, 'cause we've got algae in the main tank.Can't figure out what's missing. Thanks, again!!

If you need/want any grape or feather caulerpa I can harvest some and give it to you. I can't get it to stop growing in my two tanks. I don't know much about DSB's but have read a bunch on plenums. I went with home made plenums on my 7 gallon and 18 gallon tanks and no problems so far but they are pretty young with low bio loads to tell the long term results. Just let me know on the caulerpa and I can bring it to the next metting if you'd like some.

Suzy - here is a good link http://www.rshimek.com/reef/sediment.htm on deep sand beds! Good luck. I have noticed a difference with mine. It about 5-6 inches deep, and is just starting to kick in (after about 6 months). By the way, I have some caulerpa that has grown like crazy in my sump and would like to donate some to you and Rob along with some live rock. Hi, WMAS People! I need to increase our nitrate reducing stuff in our tank so I can overfeed every body! I got the new skimmer up and running. We have a ~20 gal sump w reverse daylight lighting, but I can't get calerpa to grow.One mangrove survived the transplant. The tank tests great and stable. We got new PC lights (It's brighter than the stinkin' tank!) over the sump,got some fresh starts,added some iron.....Was anybody paying attention to the deep sand bed dude? How deep is the sand supposed to be?
