For the glue you want to use the Red Hot, or the Rain or Shine glue from Oatey.  They have more solids in them and work much much better than the normal glue.  With 1 inch the normal will usually work ok, but if you do much work with the 1.5 and 2 inch the normal pvc glue just does not cut it.  Many times you can twist it apart pretty easily with the normal glue.

Another place to look for other sizes is pool and spa shops.  Here in Idaho, I normally get my at Twin Dolphin Pool and spa, a lot less expensive than HD or Lowes, plus I can get 2 inch to setup my closed loop pumps with.

I would definitely use the glue Dion mentioned. I used the regular PVC glue (very carefully, and with primer) and had leaks. I ended up tearing it apart and redoing it based on Dion's advice. I have not had a problem since.

Does the white color glue up better?


The white does seem to glue easier than the black....and I just used the pvc glue....{the blue stuff so I could see it better}


Also, Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier.....go to Aquatech on the frontage road{east side of the freeway} and 9400 south.....they had the spa flex 1 inch for .89 per foot....{at least I think that is what I paid 6 months ago}.....then just save your reciept and when you need more, take the reciept into home depot and they will match the price.....this will save you another trip.......Oh they also have all the fittings you will probably need......

Also, check with Eric @ Marine Aquatics...I remember a old discussion where he was selling it cheaper then Home Depot and Lowes.  BTW, I'm with Dion and use the Christy's Red Hot Blue Glue...no need to use primer!

Mine came from Marine Depot and was the black color.  I used regular PVC cement.  It does not glue as well as regular pvc so be sure to prime it and glue carefully.

Lowes, HD, etc. sell the stuff. Christys Red Hot Blue Glue is rated for flexible PVC in standard fittings. I've used regular glue, but it doesn't say that it's compatible. I would just use the Christys stuff.
