Many people use them.  The closed loop is simply another way of doing things.  <br /> Powerheads take up space in the tank and typically more then a closed loop system. <br />There are many options when building a closed loop such as the addition of seaswirls, SCWD, and other random wavemaking devises. <br /> As far as what type of pump any external pump will do however you need to figure out how large of a pump you need or want with your current system. <br /> Please let me know if I can be of more help. <br /><br /> ]]>

I ran it for an hour in myutility sink to ensure that I didn't have any leaks and then installedit on the tank.&nbsp; What a great idea!]]>
